UNIQUE GANPATI RANGOLI Ten Lakh Sabudana (Sago seeds) Used

A Ganpati rangoli using about ten lac sabudanas has become the centre of attraction for Ganesh devotees from Mulund and elsewhere.

Although Ganpati celebrations may be over, Artist Mohan Kumar Dodecha Ganpati Rangoli comprising about ten lac coloured sabudanas on display at Umiya Mahal on R.P.Road has been attracting hordes of people at this venue. Amidst this rangoli a beautiful Ganesh idol as also a Shivling and a replica of Mount Kailash can be seen in this 7′ x 7′ work of art. Crowds have been thronging this venue since September 9 and will be able to marvel at this masterpiece till September 22, 2019. Several artists have used about 359 different colours to give shape to this wonder. Mohan Dodecha has been making these colourful sabudana rangolis since 1961.

Apart from Dodecha, several eminent artists like Dayaram Hindusta, Rupesh Joshi, Kamala Ruparel, Archana Palan, Dr. Ketan Kotak, Avni Chakravarty and others have contributed immensely to this creative wonder. This sabudana rangoli has been acclaimed by Limca Book of World Records, Unique World Records and India Book of Records and has also earned several awards and prizes.

Crowds of Bappa devotees arrive here every day to get a glimpse of this superb artistry. His brother, Meghji Dodecha reveals that each year, since the past 59 years, this kind of sabudana rangoli work commences during Ganpati celebrations and attracts hordes of Ganesh bhakts to savour this masterpiece. Veritably, a sight for sore eyes!!
