ABANDONED FACTORY OR DUMPING GROUND???

On the one hand, with the closure of the Dumping ground in Mulund, residents of Hari Om Nagar and its surrounding areas have heaved a sigh of relief and are rejoicing. However, in contrast, residents living on R.P. Road are frustrated as an ice factory lying abandoned on the road has become a new dumping ground in Mulund West.

Due to the factory lying unoccupied and being deserted, people living in the surrounding areas have started dumping their garbage in the factory. It is also being reported that the factory is becoming a hub of anti-social elements. As a result, the people living in the vicinity are not only getting sick of the foul smell emanating from the factory but are also terrified due to the threats from notorious elements occupying the factory at night.

local resident lamented, “Nearby, we have the famous Mukteshwar temple. A temple is a pious place and devotees come to the temple which is a clean place of worship. Hence, to have a dirty dumping zone close to the temple is disgusting. Soon the civic authorities should take action against people dumping garbage in the factory.”

He added, “Besides emanating foul smell and polluting the environment, the factory is also a potent threat to residents as many times there have been instances of fire outbreaks in the factory. God forbid, if a huge fire breaks out in future then the lives of pedestrians and people living in the surroundings are at risk. It is very important to shut this factory at the earliest!”

In addition local residents, particularly ladies, complain walking on the road at night is nightmarish due to the presence of goons and drug addicts occupying the factory.

The ice factory has become a dreaded place. A police chowki is nearby, but still the police are turning a blind eye to the notorious elements in the ice factory. It appears the authorities will awaken from their slumber only after a Shakti Mills-like terrifying incident happens here!
