BMC T-Ward’s Apathy; Juna Mulund Suffers!!

Residents living in Juna Mulund are facing great inconvenience due to the nuisance caused by road and gutter work being undertaken on Dada Saheb Gaikwad Road, Mulund West, by BMC workers.

Kashinath Sigavane, a local resident, told Home Times, “We have made several complaints to T-Ward, but in vain. We also requested Ward no. 104 Corporator, Prakash Gangadhare, but alas he, too, just assured us to solve the issue but later ditched us. However, when we made a hue and cry, Gangadhare showed sincerity and started the work.”

Though the work has started, angry residents are dejected and frustrated at the snail’s speed of the work being done. A local resident told Home Times, “The work was supposed to be completed before Diwali but due to some unknown reason, the work was stopped. Hence, we made a complaint. Acting on our complaint the civic administration re-started work after Diwali but, unfortunately, the work is being carried out so slow residents as well as the motorists are facing much trouble.”

A grocery shop owner, who has a shop opposite the gutter, lamented, “Due to the dust and the muck entering our shop and house we have great trouble. The walls are clogged by layers of dust. Like me, other people living in the vicinity are also facing great annoyance. Due to this, infants and children are getting sick and even senior citizens are facing breathing problems. As the filth is kept on the road, it emanates a foul smell and this spreads diseases. In, addition, during the night, due to no electricity, there are chances of accidents. ”

Another resident of the area informed Home Times, “Even last year before monsoon the work of the gutter and road was done, but it was done haphazardly. As a result, the dirty gutter water entered into the houses during monsoon. Hence, the residents faced great problems. Besides the furniture being destroyed, many diseases too spread in the area.”

According to information from reliable sources, it is learnt that the work will be completed in a week or two. Thus, it seems till then residents have to bear the brunt.

Home Times
urges the civic authorities to hasten the pace of work and put up barricades to stop dust entering into the houses of the residents and take all necessary steps so that neither the residents nor motorists face trouble.
