■ Home Times Network

Mulund East residents have heaved a sigh of relief and thanked Home Times as the concerned civic officials have started the repair work of the two drainage pumps at MHADA Colony that have been lying defunct and non-functional since the past 5 years!!!

With the repair of the 2 drainage pumps, Mulund East residents’ long pending demand has been fulfilled. Elated at the repair of the 2 drainage pumps at Mulund MHADA Colony Society Association, the residents have expressed satisfaction that this could be achieved after publication of their plight in Home Times. A resident said, “We are highly obliged to Home Times for listening to our problem and taking quick action to solve our problem that has been pending since the past 5 years.” He added, “We had been complaining to repair the drainage pumps for 5 years now but, alas, the civic administration always turned a deaf ear to our woes. But, we are extremely grateful to Home Times which paid attention to our woes and solved the long- pending demand almost immediately. Truly, Home Times is the real comrade of Mulundkars!”

It may be noted that the pump house has three pumps, but since the past 5 years two pumps have been not operational. Hence, sometimes the reverse line water flowed over the road and this caused great inconvenience to the residents and adversely affected the health of the people living in the vicinity. The residents were worried that if the third pump stops working then it would create a huge problem as the processing of the drainage will stop and all the dirty water, filth and dirt would be scattered all over the road, making life hell for the residents and the administration!!!

Home Times published the residents’ problem and soon the concerned authorities took the issue seriously and have begun repairs of the 2 defunct pumps.

When will the dilapidated pump house building be renovated?
Though the civic authorities have begun repairing the 2 pumps, residents are asking: When will the sheds and the pumping station office building that is on verge of collapse be renovated?
The staff claims that they are working at the pumping station with their life at stake. An employee of the pumping station lamented, “We are afraid to work in this office as the infrastructure is in a pitiable state and can collapse any moment. We have made several complaints to our senior officers, but in vain.”

Home Times questions – When will the civic authorities pay attention to this grave issue???
