DANGEROUS RAILWAY ENTRY POINTS TO BE SEALED

Once again, Home Times has succeeded in waking up the administration. This time, the Railway authorities have taken note of our regular crusade against the illegal entry points which open to the railway tracks between Mulund and Nahur. Due to this infringement, many lives have been lost. Hence, Home Times has been highlighting this issue and pressuring the Railways to seek a solution. Eventually, Home Times’ operation has succeeded as the Railways has started sealing the illegal entry points, thus ensuring the safety of commuters and preventing trespassing that causes deaths due to train accidents.

It may be noted that Home Times, in its past issues, has highlighted these dangerous illegal entry points which have been created by miscreants to gain the so-called ‘short-cut’ routes. Some of these entry points are located at I.I.T College, Nanepada, Indira Nagar, Apna Bazaar, Ashok Nagar, etc. However, the railway administration has now started the work of erecting huge safety walls made of concrete, thus blocking all these illegal entry points.

Informing Home Times about the safety drive, a Railways official, said, “We have observed that some unscrupulous elements of society have made broken the railway safety wall to access a short-cut route from Mulund East to Mulund West via the railway tracks. Due to this trespassing, many innocent people have been killed in train accidents. Hence, the railway administration is sealing all the illegal entry points and erecting a robust safety wall from Mulund to Nahur.” He added, “In this new endeavour, we are also constructing safety walls at some areas that had been left out earlier. Thus, we expect fewer accidents after the erection of the wall.”

Last year, 4 people were killed in train accidents in the area between Mulund and Nahur. Besides, some depressed and frustrated people have also trespassed on the railway tracks to commit suicide. Hence, the Railways has taken note of the situation and declared these intrusions as ‘dangerous’.
