Drunk driver rams youth; Arrested
Mulund: Rash driving continues to play with the lives of innocent people. Last week, Home Times reported how a bystander was rammed by a lady during Ganesh Utsav celebration in Mulund. This week, a 20-year-old youth was seriously injured when a middle-aged man under the influence of alcohol brutally rammed him and fled.
According to reports the victim, Amit Gosh, is a dhol player at Ganesh Utsav. On a fateful night, Amit was busy tuning his dhol near Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar at Dumping Road in Mulund West in preparation for the Ganesh Utsav Vijaranan. At this time, Mukesh Aasani (46), the reckless driver of a Maruti Swift, rammed into Amit and fled the spot.
When the police got information about Mukesh on the run after hitting Amit, they alerted the Modella Chowk Police and placed barricades to prevent Mukesh from escaping. Despite the Naka bandhi, Mukesh tried to break the barricade, but the alert police trapped him and took him into custody. On investigation, Mukesh was found to be drunk and has been booked for drink and drive offence.
