Drunk driving: BMC Clean-Up truck driver held for fatal accident

In yet another case of drunk driving, a Mulund lady lost her life while her acquaintance was gravely injured after the duo riding a two-wheeler was brutally rammed by a reckless BMC garbage truck driver who was driving drunk!  The Vikhroli Police have arrested the driver, Shahabuddin Karimuddin Khan for rash and drunk driving.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sandhya Yashwant Bangar while her acquaintance has been identified as Vitthal Narayan Hingne. Both are residents of Hanumanpada in Mulund West. The police said both Sandhya and Vitthal were returning home on the Eastern Express Highway when the duo was rammed viciously near Bhandup by a speeding BMC Clean-Up truck. The collision was so powerful that the two-wheeler on which the duo was riding was ripped apart into pieces and the duo was thrown far off the road. The duo was rushed to the nearby Fortis Hospital, but Sandhya was so seriously injured that she was declared dead on admission. Meanwhile, the condition of Vitthal is quite critical.

The incident has once again highlighted the negligence of BMC Clean-Up truck drivers who drive vehicles under intoxication. Every day, BMC Clean-Up Truck drivers can be seen recklessly zooming at jet speed on the busy Eastern Express Highway, caring little about the lives of people on the road. Due to poor maintenance of these BMC Clean-Up trucks, many times these trucks can be seen lying defunct on the sides of the EEH thus inviting trouble for other vehicles on the road. Since the RTO does not take stringent action against BMC Clean-Up Truck drivers, they continue to unleash terror on the roads. Angry Hanumanpada residents have demanded strict punishment against the rash driver so that other BMC drivers learn a lesson and stop driving recklessly.
