EDITORS OF MUMBAI GUJARATI PUBLICATIONS HONOURED
A grand felicitation programme to honour the Editors of Mumbai’s Gujarati newspapers was held recently at the Kutchhi Lohana Mahajanwadi under the auspices of the Swayam Siddha Mahila Manch.
Readers may be well aware that a sizeable population of Gujaratis abound in this dream city we call Mumbai. Mumbai has a large number of Gujarati publications, be they dailies or weeklies or even monthlies like Mumbai Samachar, Gujarat Samachar, Janmabhoomi, Sandesh, Divyabhaskar and Mulund publications like Home Times, Hamara Mulund, etc., to reach this ethnic group. On Sunday last, the Swayam Siddha Mahila Manch organised a felicitation programme to give due recognition to all the Editors of Mumbai’s Gujarati publications at the above venue. Editors of such publications were honoured with mementoes on this occasion in recognition of their services to the Gujarati samaj. Prominent amongst the awardees were Hemanshu Kothari, Editor and Owner of Home Times which is published in 4 languages, namely, Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi and English alongwith the Editors of other Gujarati publications like Mid-Day, Gurjarmat, Mulund News, etc.
Present on this occasion were MLA Sardar Tara Singh, Corporator Prakash Gangadhare and other dignitaries. On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Shri Ashishbhai Vyas, said that there are four pillars of journalism, namely, conscience, joy, thought and trust which carve a niche for the publication in the hearts of its readers. Jyotsna Chande, the organiser of this event, said, ” I have been doing social service in the field of women’s welfare along with the Swayam Siddha Mahila Manch and it is our endeavour to make women independent, thereby empowering them.”
Eminent ladies like Smt.Mayaben Kothari, Smt.Jyotiben Wad, Damyantiben Tanna, Kinnari Somani, Heenaben Joshi, Jyotiben Thakkar and Dr.Shrutika Thakkar were also felicitated on this occasion.
Smt.Jyotsnaben Chande, Hiralal Mrug and Jyotiben Thakkar were the convenors.
The evening ended with a sumptuous buffet catered by Shri Mitesh Palan of Shri Rath Caterers.
