Fight against Rubella

To eradicate the dreaded Rubella (German Measles) disease and save the lives of innocent children, many NGOs, along with the government, have initiated campaigns where kids between the ages of 9 months to 15 are being vaccinated. To spread awareness of this life-threatening disease, Lions Club International took out a massive rally on Monday which commenced from Bhandup S-Ward. This rally saw the active participation of Lions members from Mulund, Bhandup, Kanjur Marg and Thane and wound its way through Konkan Nagar, Shivaji Talav, Jungle Mangal Road, and L.B.S. Road before reaching Bhandup station. Volunteers from Anganwadi and the Health Dept. had also participated.

The battle against the dreaded Rubella disease, also known as German Measles, has commenced from Nov. 26 when the MMR. vaccination programme has started, as also awareness campaigns have been undertaken to educate the general public about this health menace. Lion District Governor 3231 A 2., Lion K.J.Paul, enlightened the people about Rubella which affects children and informed that this rally was organised to create awareness amongst the public about the hazards of Rubella. Further, Lion Namita Mishra also spoke about this rally and expressed satisfaction at the outcome of this rally. Locally, this illness is also called ‘Khasra’. As mentioned earlier, this illness strikes children for which vaccination is administered to save innocent lives.
