Filth Removed; Residents thankful!

Residents of Mohammadia Jama Masjid located at Sonapur, Bhandup West, have expressed their gratitude to Home Times as the BMC S-Ward officials have removed the filth kept near the edges of the nullah.

A resident of the area said, “We are thankful to Home Times as we had been complaining to BMC since long to remove the filth removed from the nullah, but in vain. However, after Home Times published the issue, BMC officials cleaned the area within 2 days, thus bringing relief from the foul stench that had polluted the area.”

It may be noted the area has a Muslim mosque and the Muslim brethren had great difficulty praying due to the stink produced by the filth. However, after the removal of the filth, people are delighted.

Each year, before monsoon, Mumbai witnesses the same complaint of BMC officials cleaning the nullahs, but keeping the filth at the edges of the nullahs. Though the rule is to keep the filth from the nullah at the edge for just two days so that it dries and then disposed off, but at Sonapur this filth was not picked even after 5 to 6 days and this irked the residents. However, after Home Times intervened, BMC S-Ward cleaned the area.
