FINALLY, BHOOMI PUJAN OF M.T. AGRAWAL HOSPITAL PERFORMED

Mulundkars can heave a sigh of relief as, after much delay, the Bhoomi Pujan for the redevelopment of Mulund’s biggest civil M T Agarwal hospital in Mulund (W) was eventually performed on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the hands of BJP MP, Manoj Kotak. Addressing the gathering, Manoj Kotak assured Mulundkars that within 36 months (3 years) an imposing tower of M T Agarwal hospital, equipped with upgraded technology and hi-tech machinery, will be ready for citizens.

Being built at a whopping cost of around Rs. 350 cr, the old, dilapidated hospital building was recently demolished and, in its place, will come a state-of-the-art super specialty hospital. It may be noted that after Ghatkopar’s Rajawadi Hospital, Mulund’s M T Agarwal Hospital will be the second state-of-the-art super specialty hospital to be built in this suburb.  What’s more, the three-storeyed building would be revamped into a posh 10-storeyed building and the 200-bed hospital will be converted into 470 beds.

According to BMC officials, the new hospital, along with a nursing home, would be built on the 5 acres land of the old hospital in combination with the adjacent open land in the old hospital’s vicinity. The hospital will be a boon for around 12 lakh patients living in the vicinity of the hospital. In addition, the hospital will reduce the load of patients on the city’s top three civil hospitals viz. Sion, KEM, and Nair.

Since the hospital will be a super-specialty unit, it will have several hi-tech facilities such as modular Operation Theatre (OT), medical gas system and pneumatic tubes. It will also have emergency facilities like MRI and CT Scan and Intensive Care Units. Moreover, super-specialty facilities like neurosurgery, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, along with joint and hip transplants will also be upgraded at the hospital.

The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was attended by several eminent personalities like Corporator Samita Kamble, Upendra Sawant (Architectural Committee President), Prabhakar Shinde (Prabhag Samiti President of T and S Wards) and other BJP Corporators like Neil Somaiya, Prakash Gangadhare, Rajani Keni and Shiv Sena Vibhag Pramukh, Ramesh Korgaonkar amongst others.
