FINALLY, SWM COLLECTS DRY WASTE!!!

After Home Times news making impact after impact, we are proud to announce that even the ‘Citizen Reporter’ column published in our newspaper is being taken seriously by the government officials! Citizens are delighted as their grievances are being solved now.
A few weeks back, in our Citizen Reporter column, Home Times had highlighted

the uncleanliness and pollution at the BMC T-Ward Solid Waste Management (SWM) Department located near the Salpa Devi Mandir in Mulund West. The place is the SWM center of collecting dry trash. However, both inside and outside the department, the place was so dirty that residents living in the vicinity were tired of its pollution and made a complaint via Home Times’ Citizen Reporter column.

After the publication of the news, the Home Times team met the concerned officers of BMC T-Ward and informed them about the problems faced by the residents. We also brought to their notice that due to the excessive pollution, mosquitoes have started breeding and the residents are worried about diseases like malaria afflicting children and senior citizens. After listening to our grievances, the T-Ward officials asked the SWM officials to clean the area and make it pollution-free.

The SWM has cleaned the place but, in its report, it regretted that due to illegal parking of tempos and auto rickshaws, they find it hard to keep the place clean. Home Times hopes the RTO would take action on this illegal parking!!!
