After the terror of the serial molester, ladies of MHADA Colony are again in the grip of a new crisis. The women in the area lamented that though the police have arrested the serial molester, the modesty of women in the region is at stake due to the thriving of notorious anti-social elements that have hijacked MHADA garden and converted it into a den of alcoholics.
A lady from the area complained that the garden in MHADA region has become a den of alcoholics and goons. Hence, walking there at night has become quite dangerous. The place is fraught with danger for ladies because at night as even the street light is non-functional and, taking advantage of the darkness, some notorious elements loot pedestrians and outrage the modesty of women. Many instances of the alcoholics outraging ladies’ modesty have been reported, leaving the ladies in the area terrified.
Many ladies in the area have confirmed that alcoholics make obscene gestures and even attempt molestation. Thus, the fear of these alcoholics has made the movement of ladies at night impossible. In order to curb the menace of these alcoholics, the residents of the area had even erected a gate at the garden to prevent alcoholics from entering the area. But residents claim the alcoholics broke the gate and forcefully entered the place. In addition, people told Home Times that if any person tries to stop them or confronts them, then the alcoholics collectively unleash terror on him. The poor residents even lodged a police complaint at the nearby Navghar police station but in vain.
Though the residents have applauded Navghar Police for arresting the serial molester, likewise they appeal to Navghar police to increase patrolling at night and bring relief to the MHADA area ladies from the alcoholics that abound there.
