FLASHER IN ATM!!!
The rate of crime against women has crossed its limit and now it seems ladies are even not safe inside an ATM! Recently, a lady in Mulund visited an ATM to withdraw money. However, she was left astounded when a man tried to sexually harass her inside the ATM. The incident has raised fear among other ladies, and they are questioning, “Are ATMs safe for women?”
The unfortunate incident happened on Sunday, May 12, 2019. A lady, a resident of Hari Om Nagar in Mulund East, was returning from a friend’s party at night about 11 p.m. She was traveling in an auto rickshaw. When the auto reached her destination, the lady found she had insufficient amount to pay the auto bill. Hence, she decided to withdraw money from a nearby SBI Bank’s ATM. However, to her dismay, the machine declined cash due to some technical glitch in the machine.
While the lady was making desperate efforts to withdraw money, a man stepped in and offered to help her. But she declined assistance. However, the man insisted, and, to her horror, he unzipped his trousers and tried to molest the lady!! But the brave lady, instead on bogging down, showed exceptional courage. She not only raised alarm for help, but also caught the indecent act of the accused on her mobile camera.
When the lady shouted for help, fortunately, a policeman was patrolling in the premises and he rushed to her rescue and nabbed the accused who was trying to abscond.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumbharkar. He is a Thane resident. He works in a private company. The accused has been awarded PC (Police Custody). The police are trying to investigate his past criminal records and are probing whether he has a record of doing such indecent acts that he committed inside the ATM.
