For The First Time, World Adivasi Day Celebrated In Mulund

August 9 is celebrated worldwide as World Adivasi Day. In Mulund, the World Adivasi Day was celebrated with gusto for the first time. The Adivasi Day rally gave a glimpse of the huge Adivasi pollution residing in Mulund.

It may be noted that on August 9, 1982, the United Nations had conducted its first meeting of the World’s Indigenous Peoples to salute the achievements and contributions of the Tribals towards humankind. In the same series, on August 9, in 1993, it was decided to celebrate on August 9 as World Adivasi Day. Later from 1994, World Adivasi Day began to be celebrated worldwide with passion and fervour.

Since the past 25 years, World Adivasi Day is being celebrated in India with pomp and spectacle. However this year, for the first time, World Adivasi Day was celebrated in Mulund. The Adivasi Seva Mandal, Mulund East, organized a huge rally to celebrate the occasion. The rally was attended by tribal ladies along with the Agadi and Mahila Bachat Gat ladies. The rally witnessed the participation of Adivasi Samaj on a large scale.

The rally started from Girijan Unnati CHS located at Mukund Society in Mulund East. The rally paraded throughout Mulund East and concluded at Mulund station. The rally was a treat to watch as it depicted the Adivasi culture, traditions and rituals in all their glory. People had wore
Adivasi attire and presented the Adivasi orthodox civilization, art, dance, songs, etc.
