Ganpati Visarjan: Talav Ready for Immersion

The Ganpati celebrations commencing from September 2 will witness the usual display of pomp and pageantry associated with this festival. As always, the celebrations will end with the Ganpati idols being immersed in water bodies like ponds, talavs, etc.  In Mulund, too, BMC T-Ward is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the festivities take place in a proper manner.

To this end, the staff at BMC T-Ward are on their toes, preparing themselves for the most important ritual i.e. the immersion of the Ganpati idols. Four ponds or talavs have been earmarked for this purpose, namely, Morya Talav and Mithagar Talav and two other artificial ponds.

Teams of T-Ward officials have been formed to supervise that proper facilities are in place to ensure smooth conduct of immersions at the designated places. Mulund East’s prominent Morya Talav and Mithagar Talav have been made available for immersion as also artificial ponds have been constructed at Swapna Nagri area and next to Wamanrao Muranjan School in Mulund (E) to ensure smooth visarjan by the devotees. Teams of volunteers have been garnered at all these talavs for this purpose. BMC T-Ward has appealed to the devotees not to risk their lives by entering these ponds. Moreover, to ensure cleanliness during immersion, BMC T-Ward has placed a Nirmalya Kalash at these ponds and has deputed their staff to keep the areas clean. Officials from T-Ward’s Health Department and other staff will be available to provide guidance to the devotees. Home Times appeals to all Mulundkars to usher in the Ganpati festival in grand style, at the same time ensuring safety at all times.
