Garbage cleared at Nirmal Lifestyle Building

In a joint operation involving BMC S and T Wards, the garbage that had piled up near Nirmal Lifestyle Building has been finally removed.

Readers may be aware that garbage, several metres deep had accumulated behind the wall of Nirmal Lifestyle Building since the last may years. But now, with the joint efforts of both these Wards, the entire heap of garbage has been successfully cleared. It is common knowledge that a huge mound of filth and garbage had accumulated at this place. After Home Times taking up this matter persistently with BMC, the administration swung into action and cleared the area, but could not maintain its cleanliness for a long time.

In a short time, garbage started piling up again, as before. According to the residents, the debris from the business areas of Bhandup was being dumped here. This led to a foul smell and caused various diseases in the surrounding area. But, today, this area wears a very clean look. T-Ward has even removed the Haiwa machine that had been left there. According to the Solid Waste Management Department of T-Ward, 10 dumpers were used for this purpose.

Though the place has been cleaned, the problem of parking has still not been solved. The cleaned area has now made way for illegal parking by motorists.

Ashwin Gavai, a motorist, said, “Finally, BMC S and T Wards have stopped the blame game and have successfully cleared the area of all filth and garbage which has provided relief to the public. However, strict action should also be taken against illegal parking.’’
