Home Times Expose’ MONSOON RENDERS MSEDCL HELPLESS!!!

The first monsoon showers that lashed Mulund on Monday night brought relief to Mulundkars from the scorching summer heat. While Mulundkars in many parts took pleasure of the first showers, regrettably there were few Mulundkars who were not as fortunate as many parts of Mulund had plunged into darkness due to poor monsoon preparedness by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).

The monsoon made a fierce entry on Monday night with heavy showers accompanied by lightning and ear-deafening thunder. Though the sight was terrifying, but the joy of the first monsoon was the solace from the sweltering heat. Hence, from little kids to even elders, all came out in open to enjoy the thrill of the first rain. On the one hand, people were making merry and children were playing in the rain, while on the other hand, some parts of Mulund experienced power cut due to the gusty winds blowing out electrical connections.

The areas that were plunged into darkness were MHADA Colony, Tata Colony and Hari Om Nagar in Mulund East and Mulund Colony, Devidayal Road and others in Mulund West. Residents complained that they were fed up of the electricity playing hide and seek from evening till late night, thus ruining the joy of the first monsoon. Many residents made a complaint to MSEDCL but the employees did not respond. Thus many Mulundkars were annoyed at the negligent behaviour of the MSEDCL staff.

When Home Times tried to seek the reason behind MSEDCL’s poor response, a reliable source said that the prime reason behind MSEDCL not being able to fix the complaint was a decline in the number of employees this year. In addition, there was also a scarcity of service wires to connect electricity and wires to join the fuses. Also, many other important accessories necessary to repair and restore electricity were unavailable! Hence, the MSEDCL employees avoided visiting many areas from where the people complained.

Besides, at many places, the wires in the Electric DB Boxes were found to be corroded, thus causing power failures. According to Mulund residents, for the past 5 to 6 months instead of using a regular fuse gear, the employees of MSEDCL are doing a casual job of just connecting the wires without the mandatory fuse apparatus. This is not only hazardous but results in frequent power cuts. Angry MSEDCL consumers are thus demanding good facilities.

Shame!! MSEDCL Denies Negligence!
Regrettably, instead of accepting its negligence, it is shameful that the arrogant MSEDCL officials denied any negligence on their part.

When Home Times quizzed them about the public outcry, an MSEDCL official said, “We are well-equipped and have every gear and tools to handle power failures. Also, the allegations that our employees did not respond to the public complaints are baseless. From wherever we received complaints our employees duly visited those areas and restored electricity.”
