Hyderabad Rape Case VICTORY FOR THE VICTIM!!
Probably moved over the nation-wide emotions demanding a death sentence to the four rapists who brutally raped, smothered and then burnt Dr Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad, the Hyderabad police gave justice to Dr Priyanka Reddy’s soul by gunning down all the four accused in an encounter! As the news of the ‘encounter’ poured in, residents in Hyderabad showered flower petals on the police for their brave action.
The nation, too, celebrated the killing of these monsters and even the parents of Dr Priyanka cheered the police for teaching the accused a bitter lesson! Dr Priyanka’s sister told the media that the encounter killing would scare others indulging in such crimes against women. Informing about the encounter, the police informed that they had taken the 4 accused to the scene of the crime and were re-creating the scene when the accused tried to flee. Hence, the police had to shoot them!
While the nation celebrated the death of the rapists, many citizens and NGOs paid rich tributes to Dr Priyanka Ready. The anger and fury could be seen in every nook and corner of India. In Mulund, too, people were seen carrying Dr Priyanka Reddy’s picture on placards and paying her tributes. In Mulund West at Indira Nagar (1), on J.N. Road, the Mumbai District Yuva Congress had organised a condolence meet. They had put up a huge portrait of Dr Priyanka Reddy. Mulundkars, mostly youth and ladies in large numbers, paid tribute to Dr Priyanka Reddy by placing candles before her portrait.
Similarly, huge banners were put up screaming, “Justice for Priyanka” and “#Stree Respect”!! The ladies, during the event, demanded a death sentence to the culprits. A lady said, “The rape and murder of Dr Priyanka Reddy is a pointer to Indian women that no lady is safe in India. The only solution to save ourselves is to keep a dagger in our pocket and fight single-handedly against the wicked rapists.”
The Shiv Sena had also organised a tribute program at Mulund station. Many railway commuters, ladies and Shiv Sena cadres paid rich tributes to Dr Priyanka Reddy. The gathering raised slogans and demanded the death sentence for the criminals. A cartoon poster was also put up at Mulund station demanding death sentence for the accused.
Many Mulund colleges had conducted a signature drive to pressure the government for the death sentence for the rapists. However, the police encounter of the rapists has given justice to Dr Priyanka. A college girl applauding the police action against the accused said, “The police have set an ideal example. But it would be wise if the government begins fast track hearing of rape cases and implement such harsh punishment to the rapist that nobody dares to commit such a heinous crime.” All said and done, it is a Victory for the Victim”…solace for the departed soul.
