In 2 years BMC takes action on 350 illegal banners and hoardings

The city of Mumbai has been defaced by ugly banners, hoardings and posters of politicians displaying birthday greetings, celebrating events or political campaigns! However, the BMC Licence Division has announced that they will now keep a hawk’s eye on such illegal banners and hoardings in Mumbai in the New Year!!

In Mulund, the BMC Licence Division took action on 150 to 200 illegal banners and hoardings in 2018. In 2 years the numbers rose to 350 banners and hoardings. In a bid to keep Mulund clean, BMC is creating awareness and urging all political parties to refrain from putting up banners and hoardings that deface Mulund.

Sunil Karle, an official at BMC License Division, BMC T-Ward, speaking to Home Times said, “The citizens are getting educated as this year there have been fewer banners and hoardings as compared to last year. The biggest problem is the banners and hoardings put up by politicians.” He added, “The main difficulty is that these politicians do not remove the hoardings in a day or 2. They keep hanging for 15 days, thus spoiling the beauty of the city.”

An angry Mulundkar, irked at the banners said, “Besides putting banners and hoardings at prominent locations, the politicians do not spare even trees! Due to the banners and hoardings fixed on trees, the trees are damaged. It is a pity that to seek attention and cheap publicity politicians are least bothered about the trees and, what is ironical, is that these same political parties shout slogans such as “Save Trees, Save Mother Earth!”
