Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Drive A Success in Mulund

In just 3 days, more than 5000 children from 9 schools take MR Vaccination in Mulund!

From November 27, 2018, the state government began the implementation of its ambitious vaccination drive against Measles-Rubella (MR) in every school in Maharashtra. In this drive, children between the age group of 9 Months to 15 years are being given MR Vaccination to prevent Measles-Rubella diseases.

To make the drive hundred percent successful, the MR Vaccination is being provided not just in civic schools, but it is being administered at all private schools including playgroups, Anganwadis, etc. For making the drive safe and effective, the government has not only trained its civic officials (like in Mulund the T-Ward officials), but even the school teachers have been trained. Every school teacher and civic official has been imparted skills to take appropriate precautions while the MR Vaccination is administered.

Elated at the success rate of MR Vaccination in schools, Mulund T-Ward Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Palve told Home Times, “I am happy to inform that in the first 3 days we have been successful in vaccinating more than 5000 children from 9 schools in Mulund.” He added, “The MR Vaccination Drive which started on November 27, will conclude in December 2018.”

Informing about the stages of vaccination, Dr. Palve informed, “The MR Vaccination Drive is being done in multiple stages with uttermost hygiene and care. In the first phase, we would vaccinate children in schools, playgroups and Anganwadis. Later, we will move to hospitals and then to the slums and housing societies. In short, the aim is to cover hundred percent children so that none is left out and becomes a victim of Measles-Rubella diseases.”

Appealing to the parents to come forward and give a good support for the MR Vaccination Drive, Dr. Palve said, “Through Home Times, I take this opportunity to reach out to all Mulund parents and request them to extend their support in making the Vaccination Drive a hundred percent success. Parents may kindly note that those children who have been vaccinated will have to mandatorily get re-vaccinated.” He added, “Parents need not fear because, before administering the vaccination, all the officials and staff have been well-trained.”

What’s more, to make the vaccination drive a fun and playful event, on the day of vaccination schools have announced no studies. Parents, too, have been invited to come to schools along with their wards.  In many schools, BMC officials have organised interesting and entertaining programmes so that any fear in the children is dispelled and children get vaccinated with pleasure.
