Milk Distribution Centres or Paan Bidi Shops??

To give employment to the disabled, the government had put up stalls to do small businesses. Similarly, to help the unemployed youth, Aarey Dairy had distributed milk booths to several youth in the state. The objective of these booths was to sell milk and other readymade edible products. However, in a recent expose, it has surfaced that most of the booths in Mulund are engaged in activities other than selling milk!

It has been exposed that many booths have turned into snack centers but the civic authorities are least bothered! Shockingly, even the government stalls given to the disabled to make a decent living are doing illegal business of selling tobacco and the prohibited gutka!

Home Times, in its reality check, has discovered that many booths put up to sell milk and other items like soft drinks i.e. ThumpsUp, Pepsi, ice-cream or foodstuffs like bread, eggs, etc are illegitimately doing business not permitted. For instance, a dis-abled booth on Ganesh Gawde Road in Mulund West has been converted into a paan-bidi shop and is proudly been named as Om Paan Shop!! The owner is daringly selling prohibited stuff like cigarettes, gutka and tobacco. Shockingly, the place has many schools in its vicinity hence people have raised a hue and cry to shut this paan-bidi shop.

Viral Shah, a social activist irked at the immoral use of the government facility, told Home Times, “The Aarey dairy administration puts up milk booths to encourage the underprivileged sections of the society and to help the poor and unemployed earn a decent livelihood.

However, it is tragic in Mulund such facilities are being wrongly used. I urge the BMC T-ward Assistant Commissioner to take strict action against all such Aarey milk booths and government booths that are doing illegal business and violating government rules.”
