More than 90% Potholes Fixed In Mulund!

After facing severe criticism over the pothole menace in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched the ‘Pothole Challenge’, asking citizens to report potholes in any area in Mumbai on the BMC official website ‘My BMC Pothole Fix It’ App and watch the pothole fixed within 24 hours. In case, the pothole was not fixed BMC offered Rs 500/-!

While there has been a mixed reaction in Mumbai, Home Times found that in Mulund the citizens were happy at the civic body’s move. From Mulund, 159 people sent pothole pics and were satisfied by the work of BMC. However, the bitter news is that BMC received a windfall of complaints, hence BMC had to stop the ‘Pothole Challenge’ due to insufficient staff!

The BMC has admitted that the ‘My BMC Pothole Fix It’ was hugely popular among the citizens. Within 7 days of its launch, it received tremendous response akin to the incessant monsoon that Mumbai received this year. BMC informed from November 1 till 7 November, it had received 1670 complaints and BMC succeeded in fixing 92% potholes within the deadline of 24 hours!

Though BMC did a good job, there were some criticisms like people complaining that in a hurry to fix the potholes, the BMC officials have used paver blocks while some said inferior quality martial has been used. And, some complained that BMC has not paid them their winning amount of Rs 500/-.
