Mulund C.A. Commits Suicide!

An intelligent and highly qualified Mulund youth ended his life abruptly by committing suicide. The deceased, identified as Parth Somani, was surprisingly a C.A. by profession and was working as an assistant with a reputed firm. Parth took the extreme step by jumping off the Bandra Worli Sea Link on Friday.

According to the Police, Parth hired a cab from Mehboob Studio in Bandra to come to his Mulund residence. But, suddenly, he changed his mind and asked the driver to take him to Worli via the Sea Link. On reaching the bridge, Parth asked the driver to turn back to Bandra, citing he had forgotten important documents. The driver followed his orders. While moving towards Bandra, Parth pretended to have developed a heart attack and asked the cab driver to halt. The driver stopped. No sooner the cab halted, Parth opened the cab door and jumped into the sea from Terminus 12. Shattered by the youth’s act, the driver panicked and sped off from the scene.

The police with the help of the CCTV footage was able to track the taxi driver near KEM hospital. On interrogating the cab driver, he gave more details about Shah. He said he fled the spot fearing he would be embroiled in a police case.

Nevertheless, eye-witnesses who saw the suicide alerted the police and the fire brigade. Sukhlal Verpe, Sr.PI of Worli police station informed the media, “We were informed of the incident by the Sea Link staff around 2.45pm. We have recorded the statement of the taxi driver and after searching for over three hours, Parth’s body was fished out at around 7 pm. We have registered an ADR and are investigating the case. However, no suicide note has been found.”

A team of navy divers, the Fire Rescue Team and the Coast Guard was constituted for search operations. They were joined on the spot by the Flood Rescue Team. Parth’s body was retrieved from the sea at around 7 pm and rushed to the civic-run hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

The police are investigating the reason behind Parth’s suicide. The police have informed Parth’s family in Kutch, Gujarat, and have sent the body for post-mortem. It may be noted, like Parth, in October 2017, a man took three rounds of the Sea-Link in the cab. The fourth time, he asked the taxi driver to stop and jumped off the bridge.
