Mulund Celebrates I-Day With A Difference!  

August 15, Independence Day (I-Day) was celebrated all over Mulund with usual nationalistic devotion and gusto! The national Tricolour was seen flying with pride across all government and semi-government offices. Hoisting ceremonies of the national flag, parades and cultural functions were witnessed at schools, colleges, NGOs and Housing Societies. From morning, Mulund echoed with patriotic songs. People of all ages, castes and creeds came on the roads waving the Tricolour or pinned to their chest declaring their patriotism to Bharat Mata!! Interestingly, a few social organizations revived the traditional ‘Prabhat Pheri’, which was a regular custom of the Indian Freedom Movement.

Manoj Kotak and DCP Akhilesh Singh unfurl flag at Mulund Police Station
I-Day was celebrated with fervour and traditional pomp and spectacle at Mulund Police Station. The Indian tricolour was unfurled at the hands of Manoj Kotak (M.P.) and Akhilesh Singh (D.C.P. Zone-VII). The flag hoisting was held with full honours in the presence of every policeman.  Eminent police officers of Mulund Police Station like Pandurang Narayan Shinde (A.C.P.), Ravi Desai (Senior Police Inspector), Shripad Kale,( Ex- Sr.PI) and others were present.

 

Navghar Police conducts parade
Flag hoisting at Navghar Police Station in Mulund East was conducted at the hands of Pushkaraj Suryavanshi, the Senior Police Inspector of Navghar Police Station. Navghar Police conducted a parade ceremony after the flag-hoisting.

 

Divisional Fire Officer unfurls the flag at Fire Brigade Station
Divisional Fire Officer Ketan Francis D’Souza unfurled the Indian flag at Fire Brigade Station at Gavanpada, in Mulund East. The Fire Brigade officers also conducted the parade.

 

DMC Narendra Berde unfurls the flag at BMC T-Ward
The Indian flag was unfurled at the BMC T-Ward at the hands of Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Narendra Berde. The flag-hoisting ceremony was attended by BMC T-Ward Assistant Commissioner Kishore Gandhi and the entire BMC staff working at T-Ward.

 

BJP Leaders unfurl the flag at their offices in Mulund 
Member Of Parliament, Manoj Kotak and MLA Sardar Tara Singh conducted flag hoisting at their respective offices in Mulund. BJP office-bearers and BJP activists attended the ceremony.

 

Congress Leader Uttam Gete unfurls the flag 
The Congress, too, celebrated I-Day with patriotic fervour. Congress Leader Uttam Gite unfurled the national flag at J.N. Road, near Sairaj Hotel. Students also distributed free notebooks.

 

Mulund Court celebrates I-Day with tree plantation 
As the nation celebrated I-Day with enthusiasm conducting various cultural events, street plays, students singing patriotic songs, etc. the Mulund Court celebrated I-Day in a unique style.

In a bid to review the greenery in Mulund, the Mulund Court conducted tree plantation and planted 10 saplings in the Mulund Court premises. On this occasion, Tehsildar Sandeep Thorat appealed Mulundkar to extend help to the flood victims affected in Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara.

I-Day celebration witnessed the presence of Dr. Santosh Thite, Sandeep Thorat (Tehsildar), Ajay Pundalik (Judge), A.K. Bajaj (Judge). Besides, lawyers, corporators, school students.

 

Lions Club of Mulund and Lion Lady Auxiliary celebrate Raksha Bandhan
Lions Club of Mulund and Lion Lady Auxiliary celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival with pomp and splendour at the Balwadi located at Hanuman Pada in Mulund West. Chocolates and food packets were distributed to kids who ate to their heart’s content and enjoyed the Raksha Bandhan festival.

The event was graced by Rajesh Lakshmanan (President of Lions Club of Mulund) and Lion Maya Kothari as also other prominent personalities.
