Mulund Marred By Debris And Dirt; After Builders, Even Citizens Dump Debris On Road!

It seems, Mulund has become an empire of debris and dirt! Home Times, in its survey, found heaps of filth dotted all over Mulund East and West! In our survey, Home Times detected that at many places BMC is doing the monsoon preparedness work and are engaged in gutter and footpath work repairing work. However, shockingly, the waste obtained is errantly being dumped by the sides of the roads and footpaths.

Unfortunately, citizens with no civic sense are multiplying the pollution by dumping litter and household filth on it!

Shopkeepers lamented, “It is agonizing that BMC employees have no discipline. After completing their footpath repair work or cleaning the gutter, the BMC employees carelessly run off from the place, leaving the filth obtained from the gutter or the debris produced in the footpath work. They have no civic sense which says it is important to dispose off the waste in a proper way so that it does not cause problems to the citizens. Alas, the BMC employees never bother. They just flee no sooner their job is over, leaving the waste behind! Tragically, the left-over waste decomposes and keeps making the environment polluted.”

Home Times, at Goshala Road, witnessed that people are so stupid that they keep dumping waste in the dustbins even after the bins begin to overflow. There 3 dustbins kept by BMC, but one can see people throwing over overflowing bins. Due to this, most of the waste drops outside the bins and gets accumulates on the road. Rahul, a resident of the area told Home Times, “Besides daily household garbage, people even dump debris and junk.” He added, “What is most deplorable is that the BMC Clean Up vans just pick the waste in the dustbins. They do not bother to collect the spilled over waste on the road. This unattended filth makes the environment unhealthy.”

Similarly, in Mulund East, near M.P. Road at Gavanpada, the debris on the side of the road is emanating stink and polluting the environment. Likewise, near the fire brigade building in Mulund East, debris is lying since past many months, but the BMC is in deep slumber. Rupesh Panchal, a local resident told Home Times, “BMC has prohibited builders from dumping debris on open land, but BMC has not informed where the people renovating their houses should dump their debris! Isn’t it the duty of BMC to make a provision for land where citizens can dump their debris produced while renovations?
