Mulund Nullahs Still Clogged Despite Cleaning!

Mulundkars, beware!! Like last year, you can expect a similar picture of water-logging and dirty water spilling all over the roads because the lethargic BMC T-Ward has learn no lessons from last year’s floods that crippled the lives of Mulundkars!!! Home Times, in its investigation, has noticed several nullahs in Mulund that are still clogged and many have started to overflow even before monsoon, thus exposing the negligent work of the BMC employees!

Interestingly, though the BMC claims to have cleaned Mulund’s nullahs, an ugly picture of their negligent work has been exposed at many places like Veer Sambhaji Nagar located on L.B.S. Marg in Mulund West or at S.N. Road where people are complaining of the poor cleaning of nullahs by BMC!!!

The residents of Veer Sambhaji Nagar are angry as the nullahs in their area have started to spill over even before the arrival of monsoon season! Residents claim BMC had cleaned the nullah a few weeks ago, but the work done was of inferior quality. Hence, the nullah has started to overflow. The dirty water has spread all around the area, making life difficult for the residents.

What is most agonizing is that, along with the filthy water, the trash and filthy waste dumped in the gutter has also surfaced and is scattered around the locality. Despite complaints, BMC has ignored the residents’ cries. Mamata Bore, a resident of the area, told Home Times, “We are facing this terrible situation since the past 7 days. The stink is so horrible that people have to cover their noses with a handkerchief to pass from this area.”

A similar picture of an overflowing nullah was spotted by Home Times at S.N. Road in Mulund West. Local residents told Home Times that the nullah has been overflowing for the last one week, but BMC has failed to clean the nullah and stop the dirty water spilling all over the region.

An annoyed resident said, “Due to the unbearable stench, the life of the people living in the area has become miserable. We have made several complaints, but the problem is that the lazy BMC employees never do any job sincerely. Due to the haphazard cleaning work, the nullah keeps overflowing frequently.”

Attacking the negligent work of the BMC he said, “If the nullahs are overflowing before the monsoon, then one can imagine the plight of the nullahs during the monsoon! Hence, it is high time BMC takes urgent action and does serious cleaning work so that the nullahs do not overflow.”

Ashish Jagtap, another resident, said, “Besides pedestrians, the people on two-wheelers are worst affected as, while driving a bike, though the dirty water is splashed on our clean clothes  the vehicles also get dirty.”

Thus, Mulundkars it is obvious that during the coming monsoon, the choked nullahs would surely spill out the dirty water on the road causing waterlogging and floods.

Home Times hope BMC T-Ward re-check the important nullahs in Mulund and get them seriously cleaned to stop the menace of overflow and floods during monsoon.
