Mulund on the ‘Road’ to Progress but alas Mulund’s ‘Roads’ in Shamble!

Mulundkars are elated at the progress of Mulund. On the one hand, the Metro Work on LBS Marg has started. On the other hand, the traffic lanes on LBS Marg are also being widened. Secondly, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) authorities have also given the green signal to the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR). The icing on the cake is that BMC has also allocated Rs. 3,800cr for the development of GMLR! Thus Mulund is on the ‘road’ to progress, but it tragic that the plight of Mulund’s road is pathetic!!

Home Times, in its previous issues, has highlighted several roads in Mulund that are marred by potholes and huge craters. One such road is near the famous Ralli Wolf Company on LBS Marg, where a barricade has been placed. Close to the barricade two-lanes pass, one made of tar and the other of concrete. The concrete road is riddled with several killer potholes.

Lamenting on the pathetic condition of the roads in Mulund, a Mulundkar said, “The roads in Mulund are riddled with potholes and many potholes are close to sewage tanks. Thus, if a person falls accidentally after hitting a pothole, then he may either be killed due to his head hitting the iron-made sewage tank or be killed by a heavy vehicle running over him as we read in the daily newspapers!”

He added, “What is painful is that the BMC staff is repairing the footpath and they can very well see the huge pothole on the same road, but they give it a blind eye! Why does BMC adopt such a callous attitude???

Another Mulundkar said, “Each year, BMC allocates huge sum for repairs and renovation of Mulund’s roads, but none of the roads in Mulund is in good condition and can be termed ‘safe’ to drive! Check out the Mulund roads – you would either find potholes on each road and, if the road has no potholes, then it would be uneven and haphazardly repaired which, incidentally, is more dangerous than a pothole!!!
