Mulund Teacher Wins State Shikshak Ratna Award 2019

Ritu Salvi, the Head Teacher of Navbharat Nutan Vidyalaya, Mulund West, has made Mulund proud by winning the prestigious Maharashtra State Gunwant Shishak Gurugaurav Shikshak Ratna Award 2019. What makes Ritu Salvi special is that she is the ‘only teacher’ to be selected from entire Mumbai and the only English Medium teacher to be selected from entire Maharashtra!!

A total of 28 teachers from the state were bestowed with the Gunwant Shishak Gurugaurav Shikshak Ratna Award 2019. The winning teachers were awarded the honour at the hands of Dr. Raghunath Rao Joshi. The award was organized by the Manpower Development Public Service Academy. It was held at Dadar-Matunga Cultural Centre.

Elated at winning the award, Ritu Salvi told Home Times, “I am overwhelmed because winning the award looked an impossible task for me. Though I am extremely happy, but the responsibly of carrying the award is immense.” Sharing the award with her students, Ritu said, “I give credit for winning the award to my students who constantly kept inspiring me to move ahead. I have miles to go and do a lot of work for my students.”

It may be noted Gunwant Shishak Gurugaurav Shikshak Ratna Award is a State honour and each year several teachers, head teachers and school principals fill forms to receive the honour but only a handful fortunate are rewarded. Winning the award is a hard nut to crack. Recipients have to undergo several categories of competitions that include fancy dress competition, teaching techniques, a photo exhibition of awards won in a lifetime, etc. The other vital pre-requisite of winning the award is that only teachers who have won the Mayor’s Best Teacher Award can apply.

Home Times salutes Ritu Salvi for passing these conditions successfully and winning the award. It may be noted besides Mayor’s Best Teacher Award, Ritu Salvi has earlier won the esteemed Guru Dronacharya Award.
