Mumbai Traffic Police Forced To Fill Potholes!

Mumbaikars are frustrated by the ‘pothole menace’! The media is tired of exposing potholes in Mumbai. A Mumbaikar, Navin Lade, has been spearheading a war against potholes since years and has registered Mumbai’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records and the Limca Book of Records as the city with the most number of potholes. What is heartrending is the sorrowful tale of an aged father, Dadarao Bilhore, who has taken upon himself to fill the potholes in Mumbai after his 16-year-old son was killed in a pothole accident!! And, what is most deplorable is that the Mumbai Traffic Police, whose duty is to control traffic, has been forced to come on the road and fill potholes!!!

Yes, you have read it right! RTO officials in Mulund and Bhandup, irritated by the bumper-to-bumper traffic during peak hours, have been forced to fill the potholes along with the crater-filled patches on LBS Marg along Bhandup and Mulund. According to an RTO official, the BMC had filled the patches several times, but each time after a brief spell of the rain, the material used to mend the road gets washed off and the potholes spring up causing a traffic jam. Hence, frustrated by consistent pothole menace, the RTO staff fills the potholes!!

What may stun readers is that BMC is using the expensive and advanced technology of Cold Mix to fix the road. But, alas, the lazy contractors and the negligent BMC engineers are not sincere in their duty. They do a haphazard job and rush back to the comfort zone of their office cabins, caring little about the trauma faced by poor Mumbaikars.

Shocking! BMC Chief terms filling potholes by citizens ILLEGAL!
On the one hand, BMC is not filling the potholes while, on the other hand, BMC Chief Praveen Pardeshi has urged the citizens to stop filling potholes by themselves as it is ILLEGAL!!! Pardeshi, in his tweet wrote, “Dear Mumbaikars, Always approach @mybmc to fix the potholes. It is the legal and correct way. Avoid filling any potholes on your own using debris. Using incorrect methods may lead to accidents. It is illegal!”

Home Times wishes to tell our honourable BMC Chief, Mr. Praveen Pardeshi, that Mumbaikars have no time to fill the roads but are compelled to fill the roads as BMC engineers are incompetent, negligent and insincere in their duty!!! Several innocent lives have been lost and thousands of Mumbaikars have been injured by pothole-related accidents, yet BMC is not serious in its duty!!!

Mr. Pardeshi, it is indeed shameful that despite every Mumbaikar trying his best to solve the potholes problem, BMC is least bothered to make its road engineers accountable for the accidents and misery to Mumbaikars. The citizens are thus demanding, “Why can’t BMC act tough against their road engineers and suspend them from jobs as is done in the corporate sector and private companies? Repeated complaints of potholes on the same patch of the road must call for stringent action against the road engineer deputed there. He should be suspended, or his salary should be slashed. Until such harsh punishments are not meted out, the pothole menace will never come to an end in Mumbai!
