Navghar Police Insensitivity??

The Navghar Police, in the past, has a shining record. The police station has some really commendable achievements to its credit like nabbing the Bol-Bachan Gang, the Irani Gang and the gang that looted passengers on the Eastern Express Highway. However, in the recent past, the Navghar police station has earned a bad name in solving crimes where the victims are women. Recently, the Navghar Police delayed in registering a case against an errant driver who knocked down a lady and sped off. In addition, there are allegations that the Navghar police had created hurdles in lodging the complaint against a youth held in a molestation case. Thus, Mulundkars are raising the question: Why is Navghar Police insensitive to crimes involving women?

According to reports, on Saturday night, Roshni Nalawade, a 19-year-old IIT student, was returning home after her IIT class when she was brutally banged by an errant youth on a bike. The unfortunate incident happened at MHADA in Mulund East.

Showing no mercy to the victim, the reckless driver escaped from the scene leaving the injured lady in pain. Eyewitnesses claim, after the accident, Roshni was lying wounded crying for help but, alas, she could not seek relief immediately. Surprisingly, near the accident spot, an RTO constable was on duty. Tragically, his heart did not melt for the young girl and he did not offer her help. Eventually, Roshni was spotted by some pedestrians who rushed to her rescue and admitted her to a private hospital. They also alerted her parents.

Soon, Roshni’s family reached the hospital. The doctors informed them that Roshni had sustained grievous injuries on her chest. Angry at the reckless driver, the family reached Navghar police station to lodge a police complaint against the errant bike driver. However, to their utter dismay, the Navghar police did not display any empathy for Roshni’s parents. On the contrary, the family alleges the Navghar police created hurdles in lodging the complaint. Finally, after 48 hours after the accident, the Navghar Police woke for its slumber and took the case seriously and within 12 hours arrested the errant driver.

According to the information received from Navghar Police, the accused’s name is Mangesh Mohite and he is employed as a ward boy in a private hospital. After nabbing the accused, the Navghar police are hunting the RTO constable who did not render immediate assistance to Roshni when the accident occurred despite being posted on duty at the spot of the accident.
