Now, ‘Water Bell’ for school students!!

Till now, we are aware of bells ringing in schools after each period, but from now onwards the Education Department has decided to introduce a new concept of ‘Water Bell’! This new bell will be rung to allow students to drink water! The decision has been taken after a survey that exposed a grave issue that many students do not drink adequate water!

The survey has been conducted by the Association of Primary Education And Research. In its study, the Association discovered that a majority of small kids consume very little amount of water that they carry in their water bottles and most of the water is brought back home! The survey brought some startling revelations that over 68% of children bring back their water bottle almost full, thus indicating that these children don’t drink water during school hours. According to doctors, this is a great cause of concern as drinking less water is extremely hazardous to the health of students!

Doctors claim drinking less water causes dehydration and is injurious to health. Hence, the State Education Ministry has decided to introduce ‘Water Bell’, a new bell alerting students that they have to open their water bottles and drink water!

The ‘Water Bell’ will be less loud than the usual period bell so that children are not confused. Further, the ‘Water Bell’ will be of 2 minutes’ duration and would be rung twice. First, it would be rung after the second period and the second will be rung after the sixth period.
According to the survey, the reason why children do not drink water is that the moment they enter the school premises they get busy playing pranks. Secondly, almost 72% of students fear to drink water as their teachers refuse them permission to visit the toilet. It is reported the ‘Water Bell’ has already begun in many schools in Mumbai and its suburbs.

The ‘Water Bell’ idea has been applauded by both, the schools’ teachers and parents. A parent said, “Water is an important element of the body and consuming more water is very good for health. Thus, children who skip drinking water would at least be forced to drink water during ‘Water Bell’ time.”
