P.K.ROAD RESIDENTS BREATHE FOUL AIR Sewerage Water Spilling On Road

Since the past few days, sewerage water has been accumulating near Vidyaben Gardi School situated on P.K. Road. This has resulted in school children and citizens having to put up with the terrible stench, coupled with the filth and dirt that abounds here.

Moreover, even motorists have to bear tremendous inconvenience at this spot. Also, dirty water gets splashed on the passers-by, which is deplorable. The school’s watchman, Ramsingh, maintains that this state of affairs has been there since the past one week. Initially, the sewerage water had accumulated in a small area, but now it has started to spread gradually everywhere. Since the past 3 days, less water is accumulating within the school area, whereas it has accumulated a great deal on the road. As a result, the entire stretch emits a foul smell which is not only affecting the watchman but all the pedestrians here.

What is agonising is that some people have been dumping their garbage here. What’s worse, many locals are treating the edges of the road as open bins and have been dumping their household goods as well as debris here. Ramsingh avers that recently BMC workers had visited the site and even clicked photos of this place, but no concrete action seems to have been taken. The concerned BMC T- Ward department maintains that it has received only 3 complaints till now and repair work will commence soon. However, locals claim that BMC officials are holding out false promises of coming today, tomorrow and so forth but never act in the interests of the common man.
