Paanch Rasta Road Repairs at Snail’s Pace

It may be noted that due to the Metro work at LBS Marg, there is already huge traffic jam problems in many parts of Mulund. To add salt to injury, BMC is also carrying out the incomplete work at Paanch Rasta which was left unfinished due to the monsoon. This is causing great hardship to motorists. What is most annoying is the snail’s speed at which BMC workers are doing their job. Due to their lethargy, motorists are angry and frustrated as it is causing a huge traffic jam at Paanch Rasta!!!

It may be noted that before monsoon BMC had begun road work at Paanch Rasta, but due to the monsoon, it was stopped. But, now BMC has re-started the incomplete work. BMC has dug only half portion of the road while the remaining road is available for traffic. But the road work is causing a great problem to motorists and citizens alike as BMC has put barricades around the on-going road work. Also, road work has affected a portion of the opposite road. Moreover, with Paanch Rasta being a junction, it is crowded with traffic from morning till late night.
Irked at the traffic mess, Rajesh Lokhande told Home Times, ” It is really surprising that BMC is taking so long to complete the road work. It is ethically wrong because the road is always flooded with traffic, hence BMC must be alert and complete work on such busy roads within the stipulated time and save the citizens from misery.”

Shopkeepers at M.G. Road ridiculed BMC for its lethargic work. A shopkeeper told Home Times, “If the road work at the station could be finished within 2 or 3 days, then the road work at Paanch Rasta is minor and should have been completed by now.” He added, “Such road work must be carried out at night so that there is less traffic and people are not much affected while the workers to do their work fearlessly due to limited traffic.”
