Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder affecting a woman’s ovaries and ovulation. The ovaries produce hormones – estrogen and progesterone – that regulate the menstrual cycle. They also produce small amounts of the male hormone – androgen. Multiple cysts in ovaries and higher male hormone levels disturb estrogen and progesterone levels resulting in PCOS.
