PRATAP SINGH GARDEN; A Garbage dumping spot??

Citizens living in the vicinity of Pratap Singh Garden are, these days, facing great inconvenience. The reason? Well, garbage and plastic items are being burnt here much to the chagrin of the locals. Residents of Redwood Hsg. Soc. have forwarded a written complaint in this matter to Home Times. According to them, they had also complained to BJP leader, Kirit Somaiya.

Local resident, Ramesh Nadar, says.”Garbage is being dumped behind the garden since the past few months. The garbage contains a fair amount of plastic which pollutes the environment when burnt along with the garbage, not to mention the thick billowing smoke that engulfs the area. This has been adversely affecting the health and well-being of the residents for quite some time now. Instead of dumping the garbage at the main gate of their societies where it can be collected by the Clean-up vans, the locals dump the garbage in the empty space behind the garden.

When the garbage piles up a lot, then it is burnt. Sometimes the fire rages so harshly that there is always a possibility of an accident occurring as had happened some months ago at Aarey Colony. It is my earnest appeal, through Home Times, to the general public not to dump the garbage at this place as also to the concerned department to take prompt action in the matter. If nothing is done to remedy the situation, then the local residents will have to suffer immensely.”
