SANSKRIT REVIVAL!!

To give an impetus to the once soft-spoken, but now nearly defunct Sanskrit language, a two-day Sanskrit Elocution Competition was held recently under the auspices of Sanskrit Bharati Mumbai, at SMPR School in Mulund where 1,350 students demonstrated their Sanskrit Elocution skills.

Once called the ‘Mother’ of all Indian languages, it has sadly been relegated compared to other languages. It was to give the much-needed shot-in-the-arm to Sanskrit that this elocution competition was recently held in Mulund. 1,350 students from 35 schools spread across Mumbai took part in this unique event. Since there was no age limit for the participants, adults above 30 years also joined in the competition. Amazingly, the students rendered their elocution skills in Sanskrit only. The organisers claimed that such competitions are the need of the hour to revive Sanskrit in this country.
