Since the past few days, the Election of the Trustees of the Shri Kutchi Lohana Mahajan Mulund had become a hot topic of debate and discussion amongst the community members in Mulund. The Samarthan Panel had jointly entered the election fray. Totally, there were 8 candidates standing for Trusteeship of the Mahajan. The opposition candidates namely, Nilesh Jayantilal Chandan, Jignesh Thakkar and Vijay Dhanji Thakkar were soundly defeated in this election where 3,817 voters cast their ballot. The enthusiasm with which the electorate voted the Samarthan Panel to lead the Samaj is an indication of the new ideas and direction that this panel will bring to the Samaj. On the other hand, all the victorious candidates are pre-eminently suited for this post and are confident of infusing new ideas and giving meaningful direction to the Samaj.

As mentioned earlier, the Samarthan Panel, by its thumping victory, has received a huge mandate from the Samaj to push through the reforms it has spelt out in its manifesto. The immense contribution of the Samaj’s senior members cannot but be emphasized. It was heart-warming to see the elderly come in wheel-chairs to cast their precious ballot. The voters opined that their precious votes would help the Samarthan give the community a new beginning.

It would be pertinent to note that the family of Harsh Pradip Karia who succumbed to dengue just the day before turned up in full strength to cast their ballot in this election. Harsh Karia, being a Trustee of Mulund Kutchi Lohana Youth Forum, was always desirous of the Samaj coming up and, as a tribute to this great soul, his father, Shri Pradipbhai Karia came with other voters to vote at this historic election.

The election was ably conducted by Shri Sanjay T. Manek(Chief Election Officer), Shri Hitesh J. Thakkar (Asst. Election Officer) and Shri Mehul N. Karia (Asst. Election Officer).
