Things of Beauty Turned into Scars on Mulund’s Face!

Selfie Points and attractive boards, these days, have become a national craze. Hence, everywhere they are being built to charm the citizens. In Mulund also, BMC has made a ‘Selfie Point’ opposite Mehul Cinema in Mulund West and a few attractive boards at MHADA Colony in front of a nullah. Though this Selfie Point and boards were constructed to enhance the beauty of Mulund, tragically they are in shambles due to the apathy of BMC and the corporators of Mulund.

A few months back, the civic body and local corporators in Mulund had erected huge and attractive boards with social and environment-friendly messages at Mulund Chowk to create awareness among the citizens. At MHADA Colony Maratha Mandal they had erected many attractive boards sending vital messages to the society at several places in Navghar. The idea was that the citizens would learn and change their attitude. Though the citizens did learn, BMC and the local corporators did not take proper care of these boards. As a result, they are in a pathetic state. Besides the attractive boards, BJP Corporator Manoj Kotak had made a beautiful Selfie Point opposite Mehul Cinema to boost the beauty of the area. However, the Selfie Point is in a pitiable state and needs urgent renovation.

In a nutshell, the Selfie Point and attractive boards which were made to enhance the beauty of Mulund have today become so ugly that they have become a scar on the face of Mulund!

Angry Mulundkars Condemn

Sanket Vardi: When this Selfie Point and attractive boards were made, they were a major attraction for Mulundkars. But, alas, now they are in ruins. Hence, nobody is interested to visit them or even take a look at them. If a beautiful thing is made, then it must be taken care of. But it is tragic BMC and local corporators have turned Nelson’s Eye.

Nilesh Lokhande: The boards were an excellent idea to spread awareness, but the civic body should have taken care of their maintenance. They should have appointed guards to take care so that nobody destroys their beauty. But, alas, nothing was done, hence today they are in shambles.

Sudhir Parab: The civic body had erected huge boards across the nullah at MHADA highlighting cleanliness, but what is the use of the boards if people continue to throw garbage in the nullah. The civic body wasted so much money of the citizens needlessly.

There has been much good work done to enhance the beauty of Mulund. But, I agree, without maintenance, they have been ruined. Thus, maintenance of these projects is most vital. If there are places in Mulund that could be beautified, then BMC is ready to extend help and assistance and promises to undertake proper maintenance.
