TREE FALL INJURES TWO, DAMAGES CARS & DISRUPTS TRAFFIC!!

Two pedestrians sustained injuries when a tree got uprooted at Bhandup near Asian Paints Ltd.’s compound. At the time of the incident, the traffic signal had turned green and traffic had started moving, resulting in five vehicles being badly damaged in the tree collapse.

As a result of this mishap, one could see serpentine queues of cars moving from Thane to Bhandup on LBS Marg. Later, fire brigade officials arrived at the accident site and started cutting and removing the main branches of the tree. Traffic was restored to normalcy after two hours of gruelling efforts by both the fire brigade and police officials. However, this disaster had resulted in an unprecedented traffic jam from Mulund Check Naka to Nahur Road.

Commenting on this incident, an alert local, Ritesh, maintains that there are many such trees on this stretch of the road that are nearly uprooted and may fall any time. This would definitely have disastrous consequences. That’s why before the Metro work picks up pace, the authorities should undertake a survey of such dangerous trees and cut them to avoid any future mishaps.
