VACANT SPACES UNDER FLYOVERS BECOMING DUMPING GROUNDS???

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has brilliantly optimized the abandoned spaces under the flyover on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) by beautifying developing them into recreation facilities.

Not only Thanekars but even Mumbaikars are applauding the TMC for splendidly revamping the space under the flyover by lighting the area, sowing plants and planting colorful flowers, arranging benches for senior citizens to sit, creating jogging tracks, and cycling track, etc. In short, the once-neglected place which was an eyesore with junk dumped over, it has now been transformed into an attractive bonanza for citizens. Besides, it has also added beauty to the EEH as these recreation spaces now look incredible and enchanting.

Thus, inspired by the TMC initiative, the Public Works Department has decided to beautify the three flyovers at the entry gates of Mulund. However, Home Times, in its investigation, has investigated that even before the beautification work could start, some mysterious miscreants are creating hurdles and plan to disrupt the beautification project. Hence, in order to interrupt the beautification work, these miscreants are reportedly dumping debris at the spots of beautification in the darkness of the night. According to reliable sources, the debris is being carried in huge dumpers and dumped at the vacant spaces under the flyovers which are to be beautified!

Tragically, while the miscreants are busying dumping debris, the civic administration is in deep slumber, ignorant of the miscreants’ criminal act. What is more serious is that nobody is aware who is dumping this debris and from where the debris is being brought! A visit to the flyover sites reveals a huge amount of debris dumped underneath the flyover at the vacant space that was to be revamped into a recreation zone!!!

In addition, readers may recollect Home Times has exposed that many builders are secretly dumping their debris at the open salt-pan land near Mulund and Bhandup on EEH at night. However, despite news reports and pictures, the civil administration maintains a stony silence and refuses to acknowledge the criminal activity. Hence, Mulundkars wonder, like the builders fearlessly dumping debris at the salt-pan region, there may be some nexus between the civic department and the mysterious miscreants who are involved in the illegal act of dumping debris at the flyover spot. Probably, that is the reason why the civic administration is expressing ignorance.
