Vote For the Right Candidate!

The ‘Vote’ is the best weapon conferred in a democracy on its citizens. A ‘Vote’ empowers a citizen to topple an inept government and usher in a change of his choice. Indians should be proud that we are the biggest democracy in the world. But, it is tragic that we Indians do not value the importance of the vote. On the polling day, many relax and enjoy the pleasure of a holiday instead of using their right to vote. Few of those who go out to vote are either driven by the freebies or the lure of free alcohol and the little money offered to them by cunning political parties. It is only a handful of learned people who think twice before voting.

Once again, the Lok Sabha General Election is around the corner and Mumbai will vote on April 29, 2019. Home Times urges all its readers who are eligible voters, to come out of their homes and use your democratic right to vote! But the big question is: Who to vote for? Well, the election drama has started, and every party is trying to display its strength and luring voters to cast votes for them. Tall promises are being made and all tricks of the trade are being utilized to entice the voter and seek his valuable vote. Amidst such a scenario, a smart voter is one who would listen to everyone but will decide what his heart prompts.

The foremost important thing while casting a vote is to study the work done by the candidate who is contesting an election from your constituency. Today, with Google at your fingertips, it would be wise to read about his work. Also, seek information of the past record of all the candidates contesting from your constituency. Just reading is not enough. It is also important to meet people in your area and go around and observe the work done by the candidates. Speak to senior citizens, take their opinions and also have a discussion with your relatives and friends and eventually make a firm decision on the ‘Right Candidate’ to vote.

The mathematics is as simple as you purchase your mobile phone or anything that is dear to you. Before purchasing the object, you visit many shops, hunt online and make a thorough study. Only after your heart is content then you purchase your ware. Likewise, while voting, you should think many times, because once you vote the candidate will rule for 5 long years! Hence, if your choice of candidate is ‘Right’ then you will have smooth sailing, but if you vote the wrong candidate then you shall repent for 5 years!!!

Hence, dear voters, vote for the ‘Right’ candidate. A candidate who has a clean image, has a vision for the development of the country and is self-sacrificing and dedicated to the welfare of the people and not selfish like the typical corrupt netas of today! For God’s sake, EXERCISE YOUR FRANCHISE JUDICIOUSLY!!
