Water loss at S.N. Road; BMC mends after 1 hour delay!
A Mumbaikars, beware!!! The BMC has announced that, due to the shortage of water stock in the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai, Mumbaikars would face a water-cut in the summer season i.e. April and May!!! Interestingly, when Mumbai is set for water-cut, in Mulund, water continues to be wasted!!! Readers may be aware that in its previous issue Home Times had exposed how, due to BMC negligence in mending the water pipeline, lacs of litres of water were being wasted at Indira Nagar No. 3 in Mulund West!
Astonishingly, despite Home Times exposing the massive wastage of precious water at Indira Nagar, BMC had ignored the vital issue. This week, Home Times again exposes the wastage of valuable water at S.N. Road in Mulund West, where a huge amount of water was being wasted due to a defective water pipeline valve. What is most shocking is that the water pipeline where water was being wasted was located just at a stone’s throw distance from the BMC T-Ward office!!! By the time BMC officials rose from their deep slumber, it was an hour late. Meanwhile, thousands of litres of valuable drinking water had been wasted!!!
Annoyed at the lethargy of the BMC, locals informed Home Times that they had informed about the water leakage the moment they noticed the leakage but, ironically, the BMC which gives a lesson on ‘Save Water’ to Mumbaikars, themselves does not abide by this ideology. Hence, BMC turned a deaf ear and ignored the citizens’ complaint, as usual. But, when BMC got the information that Home Times Team has reached the spot, the lethargic BMC officials rushed to the spot to save their face!!!! Later, they repaired the valve.
Residents are fed up of the apathy of BMC. An angry Mulundkar said, “It is most disgusting that despite BMC announcing a water cut, its officials have no plan in place to save water. In Mulund, it is unfortunate that despite complaints of water loss, BMC T-Ward is silent and turns a blind eye to the citizens’ grievances!!
