Water, water everywhere but not in the Election Office!!

All the government and civic officials have been under tremendous pressure since the announcement of the election dates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, 2019. Groups have been formed of the concerned officials to ensure smooth elections. The Election Office has been spruced up. However, the staff here are worried and wondering how they will work in the absence of water at this place. The Election Commission has become very strict in the light of the dates having been announced. The Election Office for North East region situated in Mulund (E) going without any water is posing serious problems for the election staff here. Formerly, this office was situated on the first floor of Chaphekar Mandal in Mulund (E). However, with the commencement of Lok Sabha elections this office has been shifted on the second floor. The first floor premises has water only in the toilets, whereas the second-floor premises has a scarcity of drinking water and no water at all in the washrooms. In view of this difficulty, only 3 staff members can function from here. The concerned election officials have intimated BMC in this regard.

What is noteworthy is that even in the past this same premises was used for the last Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. Even then, the staff here had to contend with water shortage problems. They had to travel far to fill their water bottles in the summer heat. The staff here are wondering: If this is their condition, then what would be the fate of ordinary people? In future, no election official/worker would refrain from working in such conditions. That’s why the staff demands that this water problem should at the earliest.
