Police Recruitment Physical Test Police Insensitivity???

Each year, the Police Recruitment Physical Test makes headlines for the wrong reasons. Though aspirants come with high hopes, alas the government treats them inhumanly. They do not even provide these candidates basic facilities and proper arrangements. As a result, the aspirants have to face many hardships. But, in the lure of a lucrative job, they bear the atrocities mutely.
This week, the dreams of 4 Pune girls who had come to Mumbai aspiring to join the Police Force were shattered after they were badly injured by a speeding car driven by a rash driver!  According to a NGO, the accident of the Pune girls points at the carelessness of the police machinery to conduct the running test on the highway, where lives of pedestrians are already at risk! There are so many civic grounds in Mumbai where the physical test can be held, but still it is shameful the physical tests are taken on the highway!!!

According to reports, the girls injured are identified as Kajal Karade, Deepali Kale, Chitrali Pange and Chaitali Dirge. All the 4 girls are students of Police Training Academy at Shirur (Pune) and dreamt of becoming police constables. They were the best students and had come to Mumbai to appear for the physical test with a twinkle in their eyes to join the mighty police force!!!

On Monday morning at 11 a.m. the four girls reached the Vikhroli Eastern Express Highway, the venue, where the running test was held. Incidentally, after their running test, the girls were crossing the Highway to reach Vikhroli railway station but, unfortunately, they were run over by a speeding Tata Zest car coming from Thane side.
All the four girls were seriously injured and were rushed to the nearby Vikhroli’s Mahatma Phule Municipal General Hospital. Till the news went into print, the condition of the girls was stable, and they were recuperating.
Meanwhile, the Vikhroli police have arrested the driver of the car (MH 04 JK 3261), identified as Mohammed Khalid Shaikh and have seized his vehicle.

However, it may noted that there is a traffic signal close to the site of the mishap at the EEH. Also, there is a road overbridge in the vicinity. It is tragic that, instead of making use of these facilities, the girls chose to cross the highway, leading to the mishap. According to eye-witnesses. if they had used the overbridge then, perhaps, they would not have injured themselves. Home Times hereby appeals to citizens to kindly follow the traffic laws for their own safety and

hopes next year the government shows compassion and provides atleast the basic needs of the candidates.
