Nana Nani Park Streetlights Functional Now!

It seems, Home Times’ relentless campaigns for the betterment of Mulund are yielding positive results, inasmuch as the hitherto non-functional streetlights at Nana Nani Park in Mulund (E) have started functioning once more. BMC has provided several amenities here like a laughter club, citizens’ meeting place, etc., especially for senior citizens. However, much to their dismay, the senior citizens could hardly reap the benefits of this park in the absence of streetlights which plunged the area into darkness, seriously impacting the safety and security of the seniors. Home Times, in its last week’s edition, had highlighted this contentious issue. Thereafter, Mahavitaran (MSEDCL), awoke from its slumber and set right the problem.

It seems, apart from the senior citizens and kids this park is being frequented by anti-socials and romantic couples. Further, the dense tree cover in the garden had dimmed the glow from the streetlights. The local residents have reported that taking cover of the dim lighting, local goons indulged in anti-social activities like gambling and consuming alcohol in public, as also young couples engaging in obscene acts, much to the embarrassment of the senior citizens who have demanded that the BMC T-Ward trim the trees in the garden.

However, thanks to Home Times, the streetlights here have become functional once again, making it possible for the senior citizens to walk freely once more in this park. Needless to say, the park’s seniors have profusely thanked Home Times for its initiative.
