MUCK REMOVED; RESIDENTS RELIEVED!

Home Times continues its crusade against negligent civic officials. Fortunately, the top officials at BMC T-Ward appreciate our battle and are quick to respond whenever Home Times draws their attention to the BMC employees’ laxity.

Last week, Home Times, in its issue, had highlighted how the BMC employees had cleaned the gutter opposite Raja Industrial Estate at P.K. road in Mulund West, but had dumped the filth removed from the gutter at the edges of the gutter and went away! After publication of the news, BMC awoke from its slumber and removed the filth, thus giving relief to the nearby residents tormented by the foul smell. Local residents have thanked Home Times and expressed joy as the area has become free from the filth and the foul odour.

Local residents informed Home Times, “After completing the gutter work, the BMC employees dumped the filth and muck removed from the gutter at the edhe of the gutter and left it to decompose. The filth was lying unattended for 5 days. As a result, the foul smell emanating from the muck polluted the environment. People feared health hazards due to consistent inhaling of polluted air. In addition, the heaps of muck lying on the gutter edges affected the flow of traffic. Hence, people made complaints to BMC but in vain.”

After being disappointed by the apathy of the BMC T-Ward, the local residents approached Home Times to redress their grievances. Home Times immediately swung into action and took a reality check of the area and published the news. Thereupon, BMC woke up and collected the muck near the gutter and made the place clean.
