Pipeline burst leads to traffic mess and huge water loss

On Thursday morning, commuters on the busy LBS Marg in Bhandup had a horrendous experience! No, it was not the usual traffic mess that the commuters encounter every alternate day! Instead, the road was flooded with water due to the sudden bursting of an underground water pipeline. Motorists were in a fix and there was chaos. Lacs of litres of valuable drinking water was wasted in a few hours!!

According to reports, the incident occurred at 8 a.m. outside Metro Mall on LBS Marg. Due to the gushing water flooding the entire stretch of the road, the traffic came to a grinding halt. The traffic mess created a lot of turmoil. Being the peak hour and everybody in a rush to reach office and their workplace, commuters were fuming with rage.

Later, a BMC official informed that the valve of the water pipeline had burst causing a flood-like situation. Massive water was lost as a huge fountain of water was witnessed at the centre of LBS Marg. The situation came under control after BMC officials disrupted the water supply in the region and rectified the valve. However, from 8 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. commuters and motorists had a hard time. The repair work continued until 4 pm. Due to water cut, residents in Khindipada had to face water scarcity the whole day!
