TRAGEDY AT THE EASTERN EXPRESS HIGHWAY
In yet another bizarre accident on the killer Eastern Express Highway, a young couple was brutally crushed to death after a truck ran over them on Saturday, February 2, 2019. The couple, identified as Akshay Pramod Gupta and Aarti Akshay Gupta died on the spot. Fortunately, their 8-year-old daughter, Rashi, survived.
According to reports, Thane residents Akshay (35) and Aarti (33), along with their daughter Rashi, were riding a scooter and were on their way home from Bandra to Thane. Eyewitnesses informed that the unfortunate accident happened near Vikhroli flyover when a truck hit Akshay’s scooter from behind when he was ascending the flyover. Akshay lost his balance and both husband and wife fell on the road and came under the wheels of the truck. Luckily, their 8-year-old daughter fell at a distance, hence she was saved.
Sources informed that the deceased Akshay Gupta was working in a Corporate IT Company in a top post. He was the only son of his parents. The couple was supposed to go on a holiday tour abroad. They had gone to Bandra to get clearance for their tour, but destiny had other plans for them.
Vikhroli police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. The unidentified trucker is absconding and the police have registered a case of rash driving against him.
