RESCUE ATTEMPT PROVES FATAL

Vihar Lake, bordering on the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, claimed the life of an 18-year-old youth who had attempted to save the lives of two people.

The deceased, Faryad Ali Khan, was a resident of Milind Nagar at Powai. He lost his life attempting to save two persons from drowning in the lake.

Last week, in the afternoon, Faryad Ali Khan, along with his friends went to Vihar Lake for a stroll. At that time, he saw two persons drowning in the lake. Seeing this, he and his friends made a human chain and brought out the persons from the lake. However, Faryad suddenly lost his balance and fell into the lake.  His friends yelled for help, but it was too late. By that time Faryad had plunged deep in the waters of Vihar Lake. Later, eye-witnesses summoned the police and the Fire Brigade who reached the spot and began search operations for Faryad.

An hour later, Faryad’s lifeless body was retrieved from the lake and rushed to Powai Hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Not bothered about his own life, Faryad met with this cruel fate trying to save unknown persons. This tragedy has plunged the entire Powai in a pall of gloom.
